Dr Gavin McDonnell
There was a fantastic turnout for the Cookstown MS Help and Support Information Night in the Royal Hotel last night (Tuesday 27th June). We had some 75 people in attendance and we'd like to thank everyone who attended.
Many thanks to Dr Gavin McDonell, Consultant Neurologist with a special interest in Multiple Sclerosis, who travelled from Belfast and gave us his time for free. Dr McDonnell delivered a fascinating and relevant fact-filled talk.
Many thanks to the Royal Hotel, who provided screen, projector, wireless microphone and a laptop as part of their service. We would strongly recommend the Royal and we will be using them again. And also for the tea and sandwiches.
After refreshments, Dr McDonnell held an Q&A session in which he fielded many questions regarding medicines, therapies and the state of local multiple sclerosis services.
On the subject of Northern Ireland multiple sclerosis services, the Cookstown MS Group will be formulating a strategy to push for some changes to these services with a view to making them more accessible.
Also in attendance were some members of an independent multiple sclerosis group based in Dungannon. We will be meeting up and helping each other in the not too distant future.
Finally, once again we thank everyone who attended and contributed to what was probably the most successful night in our history. We met lots of new faces (and old) and hope they will, if not join the group, at least follow us on social media or through the website.
