Some members of the group have now tried out the new oxygen treatment
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for Multiple Sclerosis which may have therapeutic benefits for individuals with M.S. |
It must be understood that this therapy is not a cure for this condition. The main aim is to stabilize the patient's condition and improve the quality of life. Many MS people report improvements in their overall symptoms and their function ability. Patients have reported improvements with their ataxia, numbness in their fingers and hands, balance, visual fields, concentration, pain, weakness and dizziness. It has been shown that most often, improvement can be achieved in bladder-bowel disorders. |

Joe McGrath felt that fatigue that he has on a daily basis had lifted. His energy level had greatly improved, His mind felt clearer and he was more alert, with improvement in his appetite. |
Steven too had signs of less fatigue, he's more alert, has more energy especially in the evenings before he would have had to take a rest. |
Mertie also felt less fatigue and feels refreshed, he doesn't need to rest in the afternoon as he used to in the past. Unfortunately he did experience difficulties with his sinus's which was uncomfortable for him but he stated that the positive effects of this treatment outweighed this. He felt more focused, less lethargic and the desire to do things. |

We have sent three members of our group down to the Newry/Mourne oxygen therapy centre, Joe McGrath, Steven Larmour and Mertie Beattie. They had to go five days a week Monday to Friday for twenty sessions, That's four weeks. They kept a log of how they were feeling during the treatment. |
All three men have to return for top ups to enable them to continue them feeling an improvement in there everyday life. It is important to note that this was a TRIAL we were running. We may consider it in future IF THE FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE. |
