As part of the celebrations for our 20th Anniversary, Cookstown Multiple Sclerosis Help and Support Group held an Information Night on Wednesday 20th November 2024 in the Royal Hotel, Cookstown.
Funded by Mid Ulster Council
Our headline speaker for the evening was Nurse Martina McKenna. Martina is one of the appointed Multiple Sclerosis Nurses for the Northern Trust. Nurse Brenda Hamill sent her apologies for not been able to attend.
Despite the harsh winter’s night, there was an excellent attendance of about 40-50 people, the majority of which were not members of the group.
The evening started with a short presentation by the group’s secretary, John McGorry who outlined the objectives, activities and successes of the Cookstown Multiple Sclerosis Help and Support Group, on this, its 20th Anniversary.
Rather than a presentation, Nurse McKenna opened up the floor for questions and answers. There were many questions on a wide range of relevant topics including on the latest developments in multiple sclerosis treatments, medicines and services in Northern Ireland. The meeting concluded just before 10pm.
Many thanks to Nurse McKenna, who braved the inclement and adverse weather to attend.
Our last Information Night was in 2017, and the success of this event we are determined to have another, in due course, mostly definitely in summer months!
Tea and light refreshments were served.
